PU FM Radio Center’s 22nd anniversary


LAHORE: (Thursday, June 06, 2024): Punjab University Radio Centre FM 104.6’s 22nd anniversary was celebrated in the School of Communication Studies. On this occasion, Director SCS Prof Dr Nosheena Saleem, In-charge PU FM Radio Center Dr Akram Soomro, Anchor Persons Hamza Shafiq, Umer Bashir, Maryam Zeeshan, Iqra Riaz, Ali Haider, Program Manager PU FM Radio Centre Irshad Chaudhry, Resource Person Wajiha Arif, faculty members and a large number of students were present. In her address, Prof Dr Nosheena Saleem said that despite the limited financial resources, we managed this institution in a better way. She said that despite the facilities in private educational institutions, our students are seen to be serving in every institution including the media. Dr Akram Soomro said that PU Radio Center is a lab that nurtures students to work in practical media. He said that radio has always been the voice of the weak, which needs to be improved.
Hamza Shafiq highlighted the importance of radio and said that even in modern times; radio has proved to be the strongest means of communication in the Gaza-Israel conflict. Umer Bashir said that if students want to become an anchorperson or anything in the field of media, radio is the best teacher which teaches the listeners throughout their life. Maryam Zeeshan said that the PU SCS has provided many eminent personalities to the media industry, which is an honor. Iqra Riaz mentioned her work experience at Radio Center FM 104.6. Ali Haider said that PU Radio Center gave us an opportunity to learn from the basic level and today we are able to present quality work on big screens. Program Manager Irshad Chaudhary highlighted the historical journey and performance of PUFM 104.6. Later the radio’s 22nd anniversary cake was cut.
